Salary: £26,942 - £29,959 per annum
Contract: Full-time and Permanent
Location: Coventry
Coventry University Students’ Union is a charity dedicated to improving the experience of students at the Coventry University Group, operating across 7 campuses in Coventry, London, and Scarborough.
This is a hands-on, dynamic role responsible for leading the delivery of events and technical operations across Coventry University Students’ Union venues. You will oversee the full event lifecycle, from planning and setup through to live delivery and pack down, ensuring every event runs smoothly and professionally.
Blending technical expertise with event management, you’ll operate and maintain sound, lighting and AV systems, while acting as the main point of contact for clients, performers, and internal teams. You’ll play a key role in shaping the venue experience, supporting new event development, and ensuring high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service always.
We’re looking for someone with a strong mix of technical knowledge and event delivery experience. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience working with sound, lighting, and AV systems in a live events or venue environment, along with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
You’ll also bring proven experience in planning and delivering events, with a solid understanding of health and safety practices, including risk assessments.
The role requires excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with a range of internal teams, external partners, and clients.
Coventry University Students’ Union’s values are to be helpful, inclusive and ethical and these are reflected in our progressive and people focused rewards and benefits. We offer generous annual leave, an agile working scheme and place a high level of importance on staff support, development, inclusivity, and wellbeing.
Key duties will include:
- Leading the delivery of events
- Running and maintaining sound, lighting and AV systems across our venues
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring a brilliant experience
- Troubleshooting technical issues quickly and effectively during live events
- Keeping everything safe and compliant, including risk assessments and H&S standards
- Monitoring events and helping us continuously improve what we offer
Working Hours and Location
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. Due to the operational nature of the venues and services, the postholder will be required to work regular evenings and weekends, particularly to support events, peak periods, and core service delivery. Flexibility is essential, as working hours will be scheduled in line with business needs across multiple sites.
The role is primarily based at Square One, a multi-use entertainment venue located at The Hub, Coventry University (CV1 5QT); this role supports working from home for at least one day per week. The remaining working days will be based on-site across our venues and facilities, with flexibility required to ensure effective operational coverage and support business needs.
We have a flexible approach and are open to applications from candidates that may require some variation to the contracted hours or hybrid arrangements (although this is not a fully remote role and a minimum of 30 hours / 4 days is required). If you would like to apply on a reduced hours basis it would be helpful to include this information in your application questions, however selection/shortlisting will not be influenced by this information.
